Gets the Surprise of a Lifetime While Helping the Community
Bethel 55 visited
Parma Community Hospital's Rehabilitation
Center for a Valentine's surprise. Each patient
received a hand made Valentine's
Day card and a box of heart candies from the daughters.
As we visited the patients, in our Jobie T-shirts, on of the
patients said she was a PHQ of Bethel #25 in Cleveland.
Her father was a Past Associate Grand Guardian. We realized
later that her father was PAGG when Bethel 55 was instituted and
both of them were at our institution ceremony. We had a
great time talking with her about her times as a Jobie and how her
daughters also followed in her footsteps. It is always great
to meet old faces in our community that you would have never
expected. She even wore a purple shirt. It was an
awesome surprise not only for her, but for us to be able to see
how many women are really involved in Job's.

Jenna Larson’s Reception
Happy Holidays Everyone! This past weekend I had the privilege of attending Jenna’s Reception as Supreme Bethel Honored Queen held in Minneapolis/St. Paul. We arrived from Norfolk , Virginia, and Jenna and her mother took my parents and I out for dinner at Texas Roadhouse, where Jenna works. It was delicious, and if you are ever in the area you should ask Jenna to take you!
The next day we were able to check out The Mall of America, the largest mall in the United States. It has four levels, as well as a really cool Nickelodeon themed amusement park. Of course, I did some shopping (no shoes!) and then we headed back to the hotel to leave for the Hollidazzle Parade! The Hollidazzle Parade begins every year after Thanksgiving, and is on in downtown Minneapolis every night. It is full of numerous cool displays decked in the brightest Christmas lights you could ever imagine. Most of Jenna’s Bethel came to watch the festivities with us, as we enjoyed warm cups of coffee!
The next morning Jenna and I woke up and were able to relax a little bit before everything really began. Social Hour began at Noon, where everyone mingled and got to watch a slideshow that Jenna put together of our year so far. It was a lot of fun to see everyone again – this being my third trip to Minnesota! We ate lunch, which consisted of green bean casserole, tater tot hot dish and chicken, all upon Jenna’s request. These are all “Minnesota dishes,” and were highly satisfactory! After we had finished eating, there was a roast by Minnesota’s Vice Associate Grand Guardian, Larry Jensen. He highlighted the major points of Jenna’s life, and was able to entertain us with some funny stories about Jenna. The new Miss Minnesota, Shannon Warchol, acted as Mistress of Ceremonies, and some other people – including Marilyn and myself, presented Jenna with gifts. She received a lot of dragonfly memorabilia as well as some gag gifts from yours truly!
From there, everyone went to the mall for a scavenger hunt. It was pretty busy at the mall on a Saturday, but everyone was able to shop up a storm nonetheless. A dance followed that evening, which was a lot of fun. Due to predictions of winter storms fewer people than expected showed up, but the ones who did come had a great time. We danced the night away to the Chicken Dance, Soldier Boy, as well as the Electric Slide, which Cheyenne Nelson, the first ever Jr. Miss Minnesota taught me. There were gummy bears everywhere, Jenna’s favourites, as well as sewer pipe sundaes – which Jenna’s home Bethel is famous for! If you want to know – ask her!
All in all, the weekend was a whole lot of fun. I’m so glad I was able to go and celebrate Jenna’s success with her jurisdiction. Every time I go to Minnesota, everyone treats me with kindness and warmth. Every time I leave, I can’t wait to come back. But for now, I’m headed home for the holidays. 2009 is going to be an amazing year, filled with new friends and adventures.
Have a great holiday, and happy New Year!
Jobie Love,
