Joseph William McCoid

Bill McCoid passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Ponderosa Lodge with his wife Lizzie at his side after a long and courageous struggle with Alzheimer's. Bill was proud to be part of a large family, his 4 children, JoAnne Taylor (Coquitlam), deceased son Rick McCoid, daughter-in-law Elizabeth McCoid, Don McCoid, daughter-in-law Julia Staciu, Kathryn Schertzer, son-in-law John Schertzer, daughter-in-law Darcey McCoid, 11 grandchildren, Cara Taylor Clark, Lee Taylor, Andrew Schertzer, William Schertzer, Kate Schertzer, Emily McCoid, Conor McCoid, Caitlyn McCoid, Alexander McCoid, Lindsay McCoid, and CJ McCoid, 3 stepchildren, Kenneth Orr, Christopher Orr, Ingelise Orr. Kenneth is married to Lisa and they have 2 daughters.

Bill will be remembered by his family for his sense of humour, his laughter and his sense of fun. His immeasurable devotion and commitment to the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Shriners was well known in Kamloops and throughout the province. Bill was a member of Kamloops Lodge #10 and Mt. St. Paul Lodge #109 A.F.&A.M., and a Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of B.C. and Yukon. A 33° Mason, he was a Past Active Member of the Supreme Council of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Canada. He belonged to Gizeh Shrine and the Kamloops Shrine Club. He was a proud 40-year member of the Royal Order of Scotland and served as its Provincial Grand Master for 5 years. He was an honorary member of several Lodges and a past presiding officer of other Masonic organizations. He enjoyed his involvement with Job’s Daughters and was the Bethel “Grandfather.”

A memorial Service will be held for Bill at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church at 6th Ave and Douglas St. Reverend Harold Wiest will be officiating.  As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of BC, 300 – 828 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V5Z 1E2, and would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Don Gorsuch

Don Gorsuch, AGG-OH, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2009 following a courageous battle against cancer.  His passing greatly saddens all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.  The Visitation was held on Sunday, January 3 at Baker Funeral Home 206 Front St, Berea, Ohio.  There was a Job's Daughter tribute held that day and an Eastern Star tribute and a Masonic Ceremony that evening. Donations are requested to be made to HIKE.

Geri Kay Ryan

Geri Kay Ryan, PGG-IL, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2009.  Gerry Kay was a tremendous supporter of Job's Daughters and was active on the Bethel, Grand and Supreme Levels.  PSG Susan Mentel gave credit to Aunt Geri for helping make Supreme Session in Chicago in 2003 the success that it was.  The Visitation will be held on Wednesday December 30 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kurrus Funeral Home, 1773 Frank Scott Parkway West, Belleville  IL  62223-4845.  The Funeral will be held at Durrus Funeral Home on Thursday December 31 at 1:00 p.m.  There will be a meal and celebration of her life afterward at Albert's Restaurant in Belleville.

Grace Dawkins

“Auntie” Grace Dawkins, PBG #15 & #34, British Columbia & Life Member of the GGC of British Columbia, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2009.  She would have bee 96 years of age in February, 2010.  Auntie Grace still attended bethel meetings regularly and always had a gift or would bring remarks. Despite her age, she was still as sharp as a tack. She was a strong supporter of both Job’s Daughters and DeMolay and will be sorely missed.  At Auntie Grace’s request, there was no service or memorial of any kind, although individual Bethels have been doing memorials during their meetings.  More details will be posted as they become available.

Gordon Gray, the Father-In-Law of Supreme Guardian Elaine Gray and Grandfather of Sonya Gray, PHQ passed away on Monday, August 17, 2009.
