CAV Training Update As of July 2, 2009, over 3000 Job's Daughters Adult Co-Workers have received the Certified Adult Volunteer Training. In addition, we now have over 2000 that have completed the paperwork and received their CAV Cards. Congratulations to all who have participated in the training so far. For those who have not yet turned in their paperwork, make sure that you get it done with 6 months of your training or else you will have to repeat that training. We would hope you would get it in even faster but keep that 6 month deadline in mind. Also, some folks are nearing the time for them to get their renewal applications turned in. Renewal forms are available on the Youth Protection Program-Adult Volunteer Training Page of this website. |

Maryland Job’s Daughters HIKE On Saturday, April 4th the Maryland Job’s Daughters held a HIKE in Philadelphia. It started with a relaxing 2 hour coach bus ride from Baltimore. While some of our dads slept, the daughters “Bus Surfed.” The transportation was virtually free thanks to the private donations we received from many Masonic sponsors including the Washington DC Shrine Center, Boumi Shrine Center in Baltimore and the Daughters of the Nile. All extra transportation donations went to the 2008-2009 GGC Charities. Our first stop was the Philadelphia Shriners Hospital for Children. We loaded a flatbed cart full of aluminum can tabs and made a mock monetary presentation to the Hospital Staff. During the GGC Year each Maryland Bethel and the Grand Bethel made a contribution to Hospital. The 2008-2009 Maryland Job’s Daughters Bethels attained Gold Book Status as a major contributor to the Hospital. After viewing a movie and a question and answer session, the group of 60 split up and each had their own private tour of the various hospital features. All of the daughters and adults enjoyed the tour and our own MMJD tried her hand as a puppeteer. Then we gathered upstairs in the board room lobby for lunch which included nachos, sodas and a hot dog eating contest. After lunch we gathered back on the bus for a short trip to Historic Franklin Square. While there, we toured Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and participated in a Women’s History Month themed scavenger hunt. The winners of the hunt received a souvenir mock Liberty Bell keepsake. The donations received for HIKE that day totaled $2,594.18. Added to the $1,285.56 received at our July HIKE in Annapolis Maryland and the $1,475.00 received at our November Corn Maze Night HIKE, Maryland’s grand total from official GGC HIKE’s is $5,354.74. Way to go, Ladies.

May 2009 Dear FLJD Family Member: We are in the planning stages of getting the “Florida Job’s Daughters Family“ together for old time sake. Enclosed you will find a “Reunion Survey”. Jan, as Supreme Deputy to Florida for the last 4 years and Jim as Past Associate Grand Guardian of Florida from 1984-85 have been doing some brainstorming of ideas. A reunion of the FLJD family seems like one of the better ideas. With the approval of Marilyn Olson, Supreme Guardian and Elaine Gray, Vice Supreme Guardian we are moving ahead with the plan. Over time we have heard from PHQs and MMs who have expressed interest in Job’s Daughter here in FL. As a matter of fact, we have heard that Bethel 3 in Orlando, wants to get a reunion together. It is with this in mind and the many inquiries we get that we would like to take these ideas to a higher level and get the “Family” together one more time. Our hope is to bring the exciting times to the younger members of our family by presenting the memories you made during your days in Job’s Daughters. What was it that excited you about joining Job’s Daughters? If you ran for line, what clicked with you that you decided to run? We would like you to share your memories with the daughters for one thing. AND, just as importantly, we’d like to see you and catch up with what you are doing now. Give this some affirmative thought, complete the survey enclosed, and return it to us with your positive feelings on making this proposed reunion a real possibility. To Download a copy of this letter, together with the Reunion Survey Form, Click Here. Yours for Job’s Daughters of Florida,

In April 1989, the
Supreme Guardian Council Board of Trustees finalized the purchase of
property and structures located in Papillion, Nebraska, as the
permanent home for the International Order of Job’s Daughters. In
the 20th anniversary year of this acquisition, it is fitting to
recall the history of the purchase and the special ceremonies of
this memorable occasion.
Yes, the property came with an established purple and white garden!

PSG Idakatherine Schenk Visits Missouri Bethel #12 On Friday, March 6, 2009, Past Supreme Guardian Idakatherine Schenk paid a visit to the place she served as Bethel Guardian for many years, Bethel #12 in St. Louis, Missouri. The occasion was Bethel #12's Queens and Past Queens Night, and everybody as glad to see Mom Schenk. The officers did a wonderful job, and all of the PHQ's in attendance were impressed with the quality of the work. During presentations, the special guests were presented with a gift, and each of them shared some special memories about their terms as Honored Queen. During remarks, Mom Schenk thanked the Bethel for a wonderful evening and congratulated them on a job well done. Following the meeting there were lots of hugs and pictures. Mom Schenk showed that she could still have fun with the girls as you can see in one of the pictures below as everyone enjoys as they say in Missouri, "Silly Time." Also in attendance that evening was Supreme Guide Toni Underwood who said that the respect Mom Schenk enjoys among the Daughters really shows in how they react to her presence and her words. She is also glad that after 35 years, Supreme Session will be returning in 2011 to the very same hotel that was the host for the 1976 Session when Mom Schenk was the Supreme Guardian.

Gets the Surprise of a Lifetime While Helping the Community
Bethel #55 of Strongsville, Ohio visited Parma Community Hospital's Rehabilitation Center for a Valentine's surprise. Each patient received a hand made Valentine's Day card and a box of heart candies from the daughters. As we visited the patients, in our Jobie T-shirts, on of the patients said she was a PHQ of Bethel #25 in Cleveland. Her father was a Past Associate Grand Guardian. We realized later that her father was PAGG when Bethel #55 was instituted and both of them were at our institution ceremony. We had a great time talking with her about her times as a Jobie and how her daughters also followed in her footsteps. It is always great to meet old faces in our community that you would have never expected. She even wore a purple shirt. It was an awesome surprise not only for her, but for us to be able to see how many women are really involved in Job's. Laurin Taylor, Jr Princess
